Pastor Fee teaches us that in the Old Testament there were many instances of prophets being killed, often in situations where their messages challenged the status quo or the ruling powers. Examples include Jezebel killing prophets of the Lord and King Manasseh allegedly sawing Isaiah in half. Jerusalem, despite being the chosen city of God, is described as a place that has killed prophets and stoned messengers. In our modern day, the Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples in the United States, no matter where they live, have the same legal right to marry as traditional male and female-sex couples. The Supreme Court acknowledged the executive order by President Obama that gave way to the verdict by the Supreme Court on June 26, 2015 to make it a law. It’s still intact today.
